Web Page Creation and Maintenance


Technology advances make establishing a company website affordable for even the smallest business.
To increase your company’s presence on the World wide web, this short course is designed to walk participants through all the stages of creating and maintaining an information-based web site using Hyper Text Markup Language (HTML).

Admission Requirement:
General working knowledge of Windows or a word processing program. Keyboarding or typing is considered an asset. Participants must pre-register for all three days.

Course Outline and Information
Major Topics Include:

  • Domain name registration process
  • Finding a web hosting company
  • Evaluating web hosting services
  • standard HTML Tags – starting and ending
  • Basic site creation including: formatting, spacing, alignment of text and images
  • Consideration of web browsers
  • Adding Email information
  • Sourcing free GIF’s
  • Maintaining existing websites – sifting through code to make simple changes
  • Discussion on scripting and e-commerce

Hours and duration:
Three day course consisting of six half-day sessions.

Microsoft Word


Word-processing is a way of life and essential to business. Using Microsoft word, participants will work with files, learn to create documents and edit and format in a professional manner. All the basic functions of Word will be explored. More advanced skills like multiple page reports and how to integrate Word with other programs will be learned as you progress through the various levels.

Admission Requirement:
No prerequisite for Level 1. Keyboarding and some experience with Windows is an asset. demonstrated proficiency should be achieved before progressing to the next level.

Microsoft Word – Level 3

  • Inserting graphics and working with newsletter-style columns
  • Drawing, objects, charts and diagrams
  • Mail, merge and mailing labels
  • Sorting table data and formulas in tables
  • Importing Excel data
  • Macros, forms and document protection
  • Bookmarks, footnotes, endnotes
  • Tracking revisions
  • Generating indexes and tables of contents

Microsoft PowerPoint


PowerPoint is used to enhance presentations with the use fo computerized slide shows containing text, graphics, pictures, sound effects, music and charts. PowerPoint can be used to create animation and special effects for a convincing visual presentation including ‘clipart’ or digitized photographs.
PowerPoint is one business tool that is limited only by the creative mind to produce fascinating presentations and is a lot of fun!

Need help organizing your day, meetings or electronic messages? MS outlook allows participants to create electronic messages, update calendars, schedule meetings, maintain address books and contacts, define daily tasks and even have your computer send you reminders! If you can use a little help getting organized – this course is for you.

This course will introduce participants to the exciting world of computers in a fun and relaxed environment. an introduction to computers through Windows, keyboarding and computer basics will quickly realize the benefits of computing.

Computers and Microsoft windows – Learn the basic pieces that make up a computer system and how each component works together. Learn to store, retrieve and print information.

Keyboarding – Learning how to type or improve existing typing skills enhances the computer experience. The focus is on familiarity and comfort, not speed – that comes with practice.

Internet Explorer and Email – An introduction to surfing the World Wide web and electronic messages is provided.

Introduction to Business Administration Software Basics – Topics will cover a number of features to help you get comfortable with Microsoft Word and Excel.

PowerPoint – The art of creating electronic slide shows has never been easier and more fun! participants will create a brief slide show of their choice.
