At OSTTC, we believe that every individual has the potential to build a meaningful career and contribute to their community. For Indigenous youth, accessing the right training, mentorship, and opportunities can be life-changing—not just for them but for the generations that follow.
How do we create these opportunities? It starts with understanding the unique challenges and strengths of the communities we serve. By offering career-focused training grounded in cultural values, we provide the skills, mentorship, and pathways students need to succeed. Here’s how we make a difference.
We prepare students for meaningful careers in industries that are in high demand. Our programs in residential construction, welding, and metal fabrication equip students with practical, hands-on skills that meet the needs of today’s workforce. Each course is designed to build confidence and expertise, ensuring that students graduate ready to step into rewarding roles.
For us, career training is about more than building technical skills—it’s about staying connected to identity and heritage. Our programs incorporate Indigenous culture and values, creating a supportive environment where students can thrive both personally and professionally. This approach allows students to move forward in their careers with a sense of pride and purpose.
We know that success isn’t achieved alone. That’s why mentorship is at the heart of our programs. Instructors and community leaders provide guidance tailored to each student’s needs, helping them navigate their training and prepare for the challenges of the workforce.
Through our partnership with Grand River Employment and Training (GREAT), we extend the resources available to students. This collaboration provides access to job placements, apprenticeships, and additional training opportunities, creating a clear path from education to employment.
We actively partner with local businesses to create real career pathways for our students. These relationships provide students with opportunities for apprenticeships, job placements, and connections to employers looking for skilled workers. By linking education with employment, we help our students turn their training into meaningful careers.
Our impact goes beyond individual success. By training Indigenous youth for high-demand careers, we contribute to the economic growth and self-reliance of Indigenous communities. Many of our graduates return to their communities as role models, inspiring others to pursue their own career goals.
A Future of Possibilities
At OSTTC, our mission is clear: to provide Indigenous youth with the tools they need to succeed. Through practical training, cultural connection, and strong partnerships, we’re helping to create meaningful opportunities that build brighter futures for individuals and communities alike.
