Meet Dayna Woodruff
For Dayna, what started as a hobby would turn into adding entrepreneur and OSTTC graduate under her belt! When she was young, her Mom would teach her the basics to beading. After putting beading on pause to raise her family, Dayna picked up the beading needle and hasn’t put it down since; this leading her to being a business owner of Kreations by Kick!

Kreations by Kick is operated by Dayna and her two daughters. Kreations by Kick offers handmade beaded earrings and ribbon skirt shadow boxes. Dayna’s day starts by waking up early to prepare her earrings such as gluing down centres or picking out the bead colour combos. She can then be found beading until she leaves for work, on her lunch and in the evening. Aside from beading, Dayna’s other duties include online shopping for more supplies, searching for vendor opportunities or helping with her grandkids! When asked what she loves most about her business, Dayna mentions ...

“I enjoy the creative freedom of beading.”

With The Self Employment Assistance Program, students are introduced to topics such as business planning, building and assessing a business model, value propositions, business registrations, writing a business plan and more! At the beginning, Dayna was unsure of herself as it had been a long time since she’s been in a classroom setting with projects and deadlines. But, over the duration of the program, she began getting more confident and comfortable! At the end, she left the program feeling accomplished, “I learned how to believe in myself and my business.”

Coming up next for Dayna, is the Kreations by Kick’s first Night Market! Kreations by Kick is hosting a Sunday End of Summer Night Market on September 18th! A variety of vendors from crafts, food, baked goods and photography will be in attendance! This event also provides live music by James Wilson. Those interested in going can stop into 2000 6th Line from 2-7pm.

We are excited to see what the future will hold for Dayna and her business! To learn more about OSTTC and our programming, please visit www.osttc.com.
