Meet Hayden Dubecky

Hayden Dubecky’s journey at OSTTC is a compelling testament to dedication and achievement. With a clear passion for hands-on work and positive feedback from friends, Hayden chose to enroll in the Introduction to Metal Fabricator (Level 1) and Welding Techniques (Level 1) programs at OSTTC.

Hayden’s experience in the Welding Techniques (Level 1) program was exceptional. He appreciated the wealth of knowledge shared by the instructors, who not only guided him through the necessary certifications but also held high expectations that brought out the best in him. This rigorous approach was a significant factor in his success.

The Introduction to Metal Fabricator (Level 1) program equipped Hayden with essential skills, including fitting, blueprint reading, and understanding welding symbols. While he found the coursework manageable, he valued the smaller class size, which made learning more digestible and fostered strong relationships with peers.

One of the highlights of Hayden’s time at OSTTC was the opportunity to complete a weekly placement at Walters Group, which is a steel construction company that designs, fabricates, and constructs commercial and industrial projects throughout North America. This hands-on experience in a real shop allowed him to observe and learn from experienced welders, further enhancing his skills.

Currently, Hayden is employed with the Local 128 Boiler Makers Union as a pressure system apprentice. His education at OSTTC provided him with a solid foundation, making him well-prepared for his role and giving him an edge over his colleagues.

Looking ahead, Hayden plans to continue his career with the Boiler Makers Union, where he aims to apply and expand upon the knowledge and skills gained at OSTTC. His story is an inspiring example of how dedication, the right education, and practical experience can lead to success in a demanding field.

Hayden Dubecky's journey reflects the impact of a supportive educational environment and the opportunities it can create for committed students. OSTTC is proud to have played a role in Hayden’s success and looks forward to seeing his continued growth in the industry.
