Narrative Summary

This 5-day intensive micro-credential introduces participants to foundational canoe, kayak, and expedition skills through hands-on learning, outdoor activities, and land-based training. Participants will explore paddling basics, navigation, outdoor safety, sustainability, and bushcraft, with an emphasis on environmental stewardship and cultural awareness.

Participants may receive Paddle Canada certifications in Introduction to Tandem Lake Canoeing and Basic Sea Kayak Skills. This program also serves as a great introduction to the larger Land Based Pathways program launching next spring.

Admission Requirements
Requirements for this program:
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Obtained a High School Diploma or GED
  • Provide a High School Transcript
  • Interview with OSTTC Registrar
  • Must be comfortable with physical activity and water
